(Reading this file or WEB Pages of above, please, consider that English is not my primary language. I did my best...)
Overview.
The Musician plays files having type 'WAVE','AIFF', 'AIFC', '.WAV', 'Midi','ULAW', 'sfil', 'BINA', sounds inside Movies ('MooV'), CD Audio tracks ('trak') and, at last, plays 'snd ' resources inside whatever file!
But the strength of The Musician is its scanning ability: it may explore your HDs, CDs, folders, diskettes, files, searching for sounds to play. For example you may drag your disks on The Musician then continuing your normal work: The Musician will play, asynchronously and in background, any file of above that will find.
According to your setting The Musician can play any sound immediately or after your consent, in this last case, whenever founds 'snd ' resources inside a file, it also conveys you how many sounds the file contains.
In addition you may instruct The Musician to collect aliases of sound files, while it's playing, so you may enjoy them, when you want, without perform another search.
The main window has a simple bar that meters the input level of the microphone, you may disable the bar through the preferences.
At last The Musician may show the QuickTime™ keyboard (for your fun!) and record new sounds in 'sfil' or 'AIFF' format.
The Musician is Internet Config, Drag Manager and Navigation Manager aware, moreover it's Appearance savvy. It requires at least System 7 to run and uses QuickTime™ to play some kind of files.
The Musician should work on any Macintosh using, at least, System 7. It's accelerated for PowerPC. Whether you've Appearance Manager you may take advantage of it. The same for Navigation Manager. Some menu items may be disabled if you don't have Internet Config 2.0 installed (only on PowerMac).
QuickTime™ 3 is needful to play 'WAVE', 'BINA', 'AIFC', '.WAV' and 'AIFF' (The Musician supports 'AIFF' even if you don't have QT3, but plays it synchronously).
QuickTime™ 2 is needful to play 'ULAW', 'Midi', 'trak' and 'MooV'.

More.
•The Musician is able to use temporary memory, managing sounds, but, if some trouble occurs, you can try to increase its memory allocation.
•If you open The Musician by Drag&Drop on its desktop icon, it performs its job then quits.
•Remember: the level bar, appears only on main Window, the main Window appears only if you open The Musician by double click on its desktop icon (or by Apple Events).
•The level bar meters the input level of the microphone, the microphone may capture the speakers output level, as a result you may meter also the speakers output level (yes, it's a dirty trick!).Some Macintosh model disable the speaker when is tracking the input level. If it's your case, please, disable the Level Bar through the preferences then restart The Musician.
•Before playing Midi and CD Audio tracks, The Musician should convert them to Movie format (through QuickTime™). The Midi conversion is fast, on the contrary converting CD Audio tracks can be a rather long job! If you set "Audio CD import option", in "Preferences", The Musician shows the QickTime™ "Audio CD import option" dialog, before continuing. Through this dialog you may view the track lenght, decide to play only a portion of it, abort the conversion and more.
